What is Supervillian Island?

the islandlocation

I was watching a What on Earth? episode when the show started talking about an “island” that just appeared out of nowhere. That’s the island in the picture in the upper left. The right screenshot is where the mysterious island is located taken from the show. If you go to Whats My GPS.com and type in 9.5506111 for the latitude and 112.89277777777778 for the longitude you can see the island for yourself. Or just click on the “picture” hyperlink. Be sure you are in “Satellite” mode though and you will have to enlarge the view until you see it. The actual coordinates in DMS is 9 degrees, 33’, 2.2” North and 112 degrees, 53’, 34” East.

So, what is the island? It’s definately not natural like from a volcano eruption. If you look at the screenshot below:

You can see roads, buildings and even airports. If you zoom in the view from Whats My GPS website you can even see ships or what appears to be ships.

Next question is who owns the island? No one will claim it. The major suspect is China. They would have the manpower and money to do it. Probably for military purposes. The show said that Obama did ask the Chinese leader if that island was own by them but China said it didn’t. I am not sure if I believe that. One way to find out is to send a US naval ship or even a drone to the island and see if any of the surrounding countries intercepts the ship or drone. If no country does then walk around the island to see if there is any clues who owns it. Just a thought.

The TV show says no-one claims it. But I watched a video on an news article on CNN.com about China deploying missles on a south sea island called Woody Island. On the video the newsman said Phillipians owns the island but China is refuting the claim and taking them to court.

One last note. I was able to convert the DMS to decimal degrees by going to a GPS coordinates converter website.
